This is the flagship bottle from Japan’s first and oldest malt distillery, and the whisky that established the entire Japanese single malt category.
The Yamazaki 12 Year Old is one of the most in-demand whiskies in the world. First marketed in 1984, its sudden global popularity and limited supply mean it is now exceptionally difficult to find at its original retail price, making it a cornerstone of any serious whisky collection.
This whisky is a masterful blend of single malts aged in a combination of American, Spanish, and, most importantly, rare Japanese Mizunara oak casks. This unique three-cask maturation imparts the signature and exotic flavour profile that has made Yamazaki a global icon.
A beautifully smooth and complex dram, it offers a rich bouquet of peach, pineapple, and grapefruit. The palate is rich with vanilla and coconut (from American oak) and the famous, incense-like sandalwood notes (from the Mizunara oak), all finishing with a long, spicy-sweet finish of sweet ginger and cinnamon.
