This is the 2023 Vintage Release of Midleton Very Rare, the 39th edition in this iconic, collectible series.
Each year, the Master Distiller at Midleton hand-selects only the finest and rarest single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys from the distillery’s exclusive inventory. This 2023 vintage was crafted by Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman.
This spectacular blend was matured in lightly charred ex-bourbon American oak barrels, creating a complex and elegant whiskey.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Opens with an intricate medley of fruits, including nectarine, ripe melon, and green apple, with a foundation of pot still spices and floral grain notes.
- Palate: Luscious and creamy with succulent fruits, followed by notes of chamomile tea, toasted oak, vanilla, and toffee apple.
- Finish: A long, rich finish where the fruits and pot still spices build before giving way to the oak tannins.
As a discontinued vintage, this bottle is a true collector’s item and a snapshot of the pinnacle of Irish whiskey in 2023.
