This is a highly sought-after, discontinued vintage of the Lagavulin Distillers Edition.
This is the 2021 release, which was distilled in 2005, making it a 16-year-old single malt. As a limited annual release, this specific vintage is no longer in production and has become a prized collector’s item.
The whisky is “double matured” for a rich, complex flavour. After spending its primary maturation in oak, it is finished in casks that previously held sweet, raisiny Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry.
This special PX finish imparts a layer of luscious, syrupy fruit and wine notes that perfectly complement Lagavulin’s iconic, powerful peat smoke. It is a stunning, complex dram that balances intense smokiness with a rich, fruity sweetness.
