A Vintage Curiosity from Down Under
This is a rare vintage example of the Inver House Green Plaid 12 Year Old, specifically bottled for the Australian market (imported by Taylor Ferguson & Co, Victoria). While Inver House “Green Plaid” is a well-known standard blend, finding the 12-year-old age-stated version is much less common today.
The “Green Plaid” name refers to the tartan worn by the Great Lord of the Isles, Somerled. This blend is historically noted for being lighter and softer than many of its contemporaries, often utilizing malts from the company’s distilleries like Knockdhu (AnCnoc) and Speyburn.
Vintage Note: The packaging style and the importer details suggest this bottle dates from the 1990s.
