The grand finale of a legendary collaboration, the Bowmore 22 Year Old Masters’ Selection Edition 3 is a celebration of “The Golden Ratio.” This third and final release in the series was designed alongside Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, to achieve a perfect structural balance between Islay peat and intense Sherry sweetness.
Distilled in 1997 and 2000, this expression was matured in a sophisticated blend of European Oak Oloroso and sweet Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. Bottled at a natural strength of 51% ABV, Edition 3 is prized for its “velvet and smoke” character—a rich, multi-layered whisky that represents the peak of Bowmore’s modern blending.
Tasting Notes:
-
Nose: Deep and seductive. Aromas of dark chocolate-covered ginger, antique oak, and rich raisins, underpinned by a wisp of coastal peat smoke.
-
Palate: Decadent and oily. Layers of sticky treacle, roasted walnuts, and orange zest meet the classic Bowmore brine and gentle peat.
-
Finish: Long, warming, and complex with lingering notes of dried figs and a touch of sea salt.
