This premium 18-year-old expression from the Aberlour distillery is a masterclass in sherry influence. Unlike the standard double cask, this specific “Double Sherry Cask Finish” (Batch 006) undergoes a sophisticated dual-finish in both Pedro Ximénez (PX) and Oloroso sherry butts. This combination creates a “Rich & Intense” profile where the syrupy, raisin sweetness of the PX perfectly complements the dry, nutty, and spicy character of the Oloroso.
On the nose, Batch 006 delivers deep notes of plum jam, orange zest, and toffee buns. The palate is velvety and thick, revealing layers of chocolate-coated raisins, apricot, and freshly grated nutmeg, leading into a long, warming finish with a distinct sherry-driven sweetness. As a 750ml export bottling, this particular bottle carries additional appeal for collectors due to its larger volume and limited availability within the UK. It is presented in its original textured gift tube, which mirrors the rich, mahogany hues of the liquid within.
