A Refined Classic: The ‘Small Batch’ Standard
The Glenfiddich 18 Year Old is a staple of luxury Speyside whiskies, but this specific “Small Batch” release is distinguished by the care taken in its marriage. It is produced in batches of no more than 150 casks at a time, allowing the Malt Master to carefully control the consistency and depth of the final vatting.
The liquid is matured in a mix of Spanish Oloroso sherry wood and American oak bourbon casks. The result is a whisky that balances the signature Glenfiddich orchard fruit notes with the rich, heavy dried fruit and spice influence of long-aged sherry wood. It is widely regarded as a significant step up in complexity from the standard 12 and 15 Year Old expressions.
